Why
Civic Duty?
Because we think laughing together is a public service. Improv is a room full of people agreeing to support each other, listen hard, and make something out of nothing. The world could use more rooms like that. That’s why we’re here.
To Each Other
To Ourselves
To Our Town
We take the duties seriously.
Ourselves, not so much.
Civic Duty Improv is a place to be curious, be present, and be part of something good in our community.
Who's Running This...
Ideally? Everybody. That’s kind of how improv works. But somebody had to organize the classes!
Civic Duty Improv was founded by Connor Wentling, a Marine Corps veteran who spent 14 years in an organization where “improvise, adapt, and overcome” is an unofficial motto and not a suggestion.
Connor has spent more than three years performing improv and bringing its principles to audiences ranging from corporate teams and government agencies to military units and professional associations. As a professional speaker, he combines humor, philosophy, and improv to help people navigate life’s uncertainties.
Offstage, he’s a husband, a dad of four, and a longtime youth sports coach, which means he’s had plenty of opportunities to practice improvising when things don’t go according to plan.
He started Civic Duty Improv because somewhere between growing up and getting busy, a lot of us forgot how much fun it is to just play. He believes we’d all be a little better at life, and a lot better with each other, if we made room for more of it.
